Fairfields is a primary special school taking children between the ages of 3 and 11 with severe or profound learning difficulties, communication and physical difficulties.
We also cater for pupils on the autistic spectrum. Some children may also have multi-sensory impairment and complex medical difficulties.
The school is situated in large well maintained grounds close to the centre of Northampton. Its catchment area covers Northampton and the South and West of the County.
Conductive Education is a specialism within our school. Our work is based on the principles of Conductive Education and is included in the daily timetable. All children who will benefit from this approach take part in these sessions. Conductive Education encourages pupils to learn to control their movements and to use these movements to assist daily living skills.
We run a ‘School for Parents’ group which enables children with physical needs from birth to 4 years to join us weekly with our two Conductive Education Teachers and parents to begin to develop their physical and social skills as early as possible.
